Phosphofructokinase is an enzyme that converts a molecule called fructose-6-phosphate into a molecule called fructose 1,6-bisphosphate for the muscle.
Fructose is a simple sugar like Glucose. Unlke Glucose though, Fructose normally has to be converted to Glucose by the liver in order for it to be usable by the human body.
Phosphate (Chemical Formula: PO3-4) is necessary for the formation of bone and teeth as well as several other important substances, including those used by the cell for energy (think: ATP - Adenosine Triphosphate), cell membranes, and DNA (Deoxyribonucleic Acid).
I like Phosphofructokinase.
